NXT Actions/Tasks...notifications between Prospect Research and Fundraisers

Hello to everyone! I'm seeking help on Best Practices on using NXT / Actions / Tasks to send work back-and-forth between Prospect Research and the Fundraisers we work with. When a Fundraiser sends me an Action/Task (such as a Research Request), she assigns the Task to me and it goes into my Work Center. When I complete the Task, I mark “complete” and assign back to the Fundraiser. However, the Fundraiser does not receive a notification because the Task has been completed. Does anyone have any Best Practices around this back-and-forth dynamic in NXT? Thank you in advance!!! - Amy Ford

I would suggest you code these Actions with a unique Action Type, such as “Record Update”. Then create an Action list for your fundraiser of completed Actions with that Action Type. Although it will not show up on their home page dashboard, they can easily open the list and the list will keep itself refreshed.

  • Depending on how Prospect Research and the Fundraisers use the Notes section of the action for the back and forth as the tasks are requested and completed, it seems that simply adding the Fundraiser back in as the Assigned To would fix the issue. Leaving the Completed box unchecked until the interaction for the particular request is fully completed will allow the action to still be “in play” and as long as the Action Date has already passed, it will appear in the Needs Attention section of the Fundraiser's Work area. This is not something we do, so it may take some testing if you do not get any other responses.
