Using a tablet for membership sales at FD

Hi all,

We're interested in getting rid of physical paper membership forms at the front desk for member signups, in favour of having tablets where prospective members can sign up. I was interested in using an external webform and exporting the data into Altru, however, Altru has no compatibility to allow this.

Does anyone else do this? Do you use the Altru form directly on the tablet? I know this is a possibility, but as the Altru screen allows for very little manipulation, the design is really not up to the usual standard that we hold ourselves to.

I'd love to have some insights into what others do!

Thank you!

  • @Lydia Baard we are considering this as well. We considered pulling up our webpage to purchase a membership online, but are still in the brainstorming phase. Hoping someone else in here has more insight!

Nothing to add here but will follow - we use paper pads of applications. We have combined forms into one (to use when we run our Groupon promo). Right now the paper forms still work for us…as Altru users.

  • @Alyssa Nickel Our biggest concern is that the Altru forms are 1) not aesthetically pleasing, and 2) as far as we can figure, not able to be shown/presented in Spanish (our membership application forms are available in both).

We were really hoping to have an elegant solution like creating a form in Monday or Google docs, then having a one click import into Altru that would fill in and create all the new the constituent records. The membership team would still have to go in and create a household at the end of the day, but it would be a clean, paperless system!

    Hello Lydia,

We use paper forms but I would like to explore ways to do away with paper forms and have the new members register themselves online.

    Following for some guidance.

We have this issue as well AND our store is on a separate POS. So far the only thing that we can think of that is seamless is an API from the store system to Altru- but they don't make it easy to access the Altru API- hoping this becomes easier in the future or they make the forms more flexible.

I'm not familiar with Monday, but if you're able to export the data to excel or as a .csv file, could you then create a batch entry? I suppose this wouldn't help with the actual sale portion and someone would still have to tie the household together.

But I completely agree, Altru forms are lacking in aesthetics and ability for it to feel on brand for us.
