Insights and Adding external goals of some sort

When building insights for RENxt is there a way to add goals to match the data against - example the class of 1950 shows 5 gifts totalling $300 and we have a goal of $1,000 so I want to be able to show both of those and where we stand against that goal. The gifts are in the insight but how can I add a goal

You can add goals to any Campaign, Fund or Appeal, which you can do in database view. It might take up to 24 hours to refresh, so just be patient.

It would be good if we had the ability to enter an overall goal. not tied to a specific fund etc.

You may be able to do that with Insight Designer, but that product is additional ($2400 per year) and definitely a level up in skills from Report Builder.

I'm not sure how what you wish for could be accomplished, but I would highly recommend adding someone to the Ideas Bank where it will be seen by Blackbaud. That is always the best place to post wish list items.

@Paula Eyerman I am guessing since you reference a class you have the alumni module? @Karen Diener already mentioned the goals for C/F/A, which I have started utilizing more here and definitely help in reporting.

While I do not know of a way to assign a specific goal to a class, if you build a report in NXT and use the alumni class summary insight, it will list how much each class has brought in. You can then edit the properties if you're only looking for a specific C/F/A or a certain timeframe, although that can also be done on the report level. Then, if you have a goal for the C/F/A you can pull in another insight for that to show the goal and the totals plus the class summary that shows you how each class is doing. I did this with a raffle we had last year.

You could always add a text box to show what the individual class goal is, which you could place in an area next to the class breakdown maybe. The insights are only going to pull information from your database and won't do any calculations on data not in DB but having that visual of a goal, if it cannot be tied to a C/F/A would still be beneficial.
