how do I export a student's parents' job title and organisation?

Hello, I have a dynamic constituent query to pull up current students, their parental and sibling relationships and then I use this in an export (criteria below) as a base for my research. One thing that is missing (assuming it's in RE!) is parental (ie Individuals and Individuals 2) job title and organisation. Is it possible to export this as part of the Export criteria below and if so, how!?

It looks like those fields should be available under the Organisation node that's within the individual relationship section (not the other organisation node further down, as that will give you the constituent's organisation relationships, not the parent's). It's a couple of rows below where you got the phone number fields from.

Thanks Alan, I looked at that - Relationships>Individuals>Organisations>Position & Organisation Name, but it's not returning any results…

Odd… are the parents also constituents? Only constituents can have relationship records associated with them, so if the parents only exist as relationships on the child's record, they can't have their own employment information associated with them.

If it's not that, you may need to select which types of organisation relationships you're exporting - if you've currently got the criteria set to “all organisation relations” then maybe try toggling it to “selected organisation relations” and then choosing the relationship type(s) that you use for employment.

Wouldn't it be just Relationships→Individuals→Position and Organization Name? I think you may be going deeper than you need to find this information.

If the parents have their own constituent record you should be able to pull Relationship Individual →Organization.

I would suggest flipping the script. Assuming parents have their own constituent record.

Pull a query of parents through Export and have the output fields be the parent employer info and all of their children. You'd be able to see who is current student by the grad year minimally, depending on what else you track.

YES! It can be done. I have an export that shows constituent + spouse + child + child + child + employer. I use this to validate reciprocal relationships. For each relationship, I export address. For employer I export position and address. This might not work if your relationships are not populated and reciprocated.

The criteria for the first relationship is that the relationship type = spouse, domestic partner, civil union…; the criteria for the second relationship is that the relationship type = child; and for the org, relationship = employer. You don't need to include reciprocal/reciprocate in your export---they are included in my export because I use it to ensure that relationships are linked. Three child relationships because that is the max number of children any set of parents has sent to our school.
