Recurring gifts and Credit Card Updater in NXT
We're considering moving our recurring gifts from Luminate to NXT. We currently use Credit Card Updater (CCU) which saves us a LOT of time and effort in tracking down donors with expired or replaced credit cards. We were happy to learn that CCU is available for recurring gifts in NXT, and now we're trying to understand how this process works with the soft rejects & retries and the hard rejects. We're also wondering whether there is an auto-terminate feature after a specified number of monthly rejects (or is it a manual process to terminate very past due recurring gifts). Would love to hear from folks who are currently using NXT recurring gifts and the CCU. Thanks!!

Hi @Barbara Lezon - Welcome BB Community! When a recurring gift payment fails due to a soft rejection the system will automatically retry it each day until it reaches the maximum number of retries (you can set this number within Control Panel > Settings > Gift management) - Check out this Article for more information. If the card is hard rejected, it will appear with a $0.00 amount listed + comment when you review the batch detail prior to approval.
There is no auto-terminate feature within Web View for recurring gifts, you will need to pay attention to the cards that return with a hard reject ($0.00 amount) and either follow up with the donor to get updated cc information or terminate this within Web View manually. NXT will continue to try to charge the recurring gift payment for each of the scheduled transactions until the status is changed to either “Hold” if you are trying to get updated payment information or “Terminated/Completed" to mark the end of the recurring gift.
There is a feature in Web View where you can direct the system to retry a missed payment after you have amended the payment information on the original recurring gift record. You'll need to approve/commit the $0.00 recurring gift payment to the database, and then access the missed payment record in Web View where you can direct the system to re-try the charge with the updated payment information.
