Permissions for actions

We have several new employees lately that are having problems performing their jobs. I am researching to help them and coming up short. We have database and NXT (I primarily use database for my job.)

This gal is new to RE and deals with writing/calling our constituents and recording actions. Is this best accomplished in database or NXT? Does she need special permissions to do this? I've spent the afternoon searching and reading BB articles but no answers yet. Thank you!!

Edit: I had gone through the" Users are unable to add Actions in web view" and everything is correctly marked. The gal in charge of this new endeavor and her supervisor have not done any of this before, none of us other than myself adding closed actions from donor conversations!

Note: She had half a moment to let me know she can add actions but no alarms and that she is not part of fundraising. She has Full Fundraising assigned to her with all but JustGiving integration tasks checked.

@Dana Burton - She should be able to accomplish this from either view. She may find it more user friendly to do it from Web View.

To make sure she has permissions, you will need to check in on the security user group she is assigned to within Database View > Administration > Security. Within this security group, open the ‘Options’ for ‘Records’ and go to the section called ‘Actions (Constituent)’. She will need View, Add, and Edit rights.

Database View security rights are a foundation that Web View security rights reside on top of.

  • @Austen Brown, those rights are already permitted. ? After an afternoon of reading, I was able to piece together enough information to have her as a solicitor now.

I've assigned the previous (now inactive) solicitor to the new partner relations gal!

Next I need to take the deceased constituents that have past due alerts and somehow deactivate those alerts.

  • @Dana Burton Definitely better for any gift officer or user to utilize NXT. It's designed to be user friendly for those who are not dbas. I'd suggest setting up a training session where you can oversee her adding an action or two. Also, send her a screenshot showing her what a finished action looks like.

@Dana Burton Our gift officers always use NXT to enter their actions.
