Primary email confirmation

Good afternoon! We are looking for a way to confirm the preferred email for our alumni in the database. Right now we have several email addresses on record and would like to clean up the list to update and override some of the current primary emails in case one of their alternative emails should be marked in this way. We were curious if anyone had done any project like this before and how we might tackle it? Thank you!

@LeAnne Anklan We have the same issue. Will follow looking for more ideas as well.

It's only getting the smallest of percentage of records but we have an online alumni info update form that includes a blank to enter their preferred email type: personal / business. And then the next blanks are for entering the emails.

It's tough to track as online registrations/donations often use a non-primary email to avoid getting put on mailing lists. ?

  • @JoAnn Strommen Glad to hear it isn't just us! Looking forward to any ideas people have for how to tackle this issue.

  • @LeAnne Anklan We recently completed a project with a company called PCI. They called every alumni telephone number we had, recorded their alumni story over the phone and updated their information. The result was a hardbound book with the stories. It gave us a lot of new contact data we use their stories for marketing. There are many similar companies out there but I found PCI easy to work with and the book is beautiful.

Good data to have, but interesting that it is a hard-bound book. Will any of the data make it into your database?
