Login Page for those on Blackbaud ID

Hi Everyone - for schools that have gone all BlackbaudID… Has anyone changed their main login landing pages on their school site from the myschoooapp.com/app/login link to the re-directed link so that the only page the end user sees is the school-branded BlackbaudID login page?

Right now we have families go to the myschoooapp.com/app/login link, then it redirects to the BlackbaudID page, then about 50% of the time, it redirects back to the myschoooapp.com/app/login link where they have to re-enter their email a 2nd time.

Curious if anyone has gone away from the old login to just the Blackbaud ID login page. And are there any issues with using the BlackbaudID login page as the main page? I have done tests on multiple computer and multiple locations, and it looks like you can strip the login_hint portion of the link and it works fine for anyone to enter their login name and password.

  • We use the myschoolapp.com link for them to enter their email address and then they go to the BBID login page. I have not experimented with removing that first page - especially because we are using sso with our website provider, Finalsite.

I have had that same experience where some of the time - I have to enter my email address in the myschoolapp “box” a second time. It seems to be happening to me more frequently the past few weeks. Would also be interested in hearing if others are having this issue - or if they have a workaround.

This is exactly what we're doing as well, and it's worked pretty much flawlessly. It also works well as an error check, because if a password box pops up after the user enters their email address instead of being forwarded to the BBID login screen, I quickly know that something is not configured correctly.

I've also noticed the bug where I need to enter my email address twice. I figured it was a weird browser cookie thing, so I haven't reported to support, but if others are experiencing it then maybe not. The second time I enter my email address, it logs directly in without needing to authenticate BBID again, so it's more an annoyance than a major bug that gets people stuck in a login loop. But it seems fairly likely that it isn't working as intended, if others are having the same issue.

  • @Brian LeBlanc Thanks for the information on that. I noticed that error check as well which I find useful. But the entering an email address a second time is becoming more and more consistent and annoying students, teachers, and parents.

  • @Brian LeBlanc I would add to this, too, that I'm new to Blackbaud this summer and have been doing a lot of instructor-led trainings. In those instructor-led trainings, sometime about a month ago, we had the second log-in start popping up in those live training sample environments. It wasn't there at the end of June / beginning of July, but then one day it started and it was just a quirk of the system that we all rolled with – but it worked flawlessly except for the flaw of it showing a second time in the first place. ?‍♂️

  • Since it seems like this is happening to a decent number of users, I'll go ahead and report it to support.

  • @Chris Felinski

What browser and OS are you currently using when signing into the system? Our team is checking the situation but having this piece of information is really helpful to us!

  • @Kevin Artavia We are a 1:1 school with Microsoft Surfaces, so we are almost all using Chrome or Edge on Windows 10 or Windows 11. I personally go back and forth between Chrome and Edge and I have the same behavior on both.

  • @Jessi Walters This happens to us all the time as well. I'm glad you all are looking into it.

@Chris Felinski and all on this thread -
This was resolved recently, so moving forward, your users should only have to enter their email on the BBEM login page once. Cheers to a wonderful holiday season!
