RE & Sage Intacct?

Does anyone here work for an organization that uses Sage Intacct for their finance/accounting software? We're looking for some tips on how to work more efficiently on with our finance team as they transition to Sage.

  • @Christina Mohler Hi Christina, I recently was part of a Sage implementation team for a K-12 school that came very close, but never fully came online. We were also implementing RE NXT. I am interested to understand your setup/integration using RE with Sage - and viewing whatever responses come in from the community. If you would like to discuss my experiences offline - feel free to email me directly (amy@foundation-performance.com). And good luck!!

@Christina Mohler Our finance team uses Sage Intacct. At this point, I have some exports set up with their required import fields that we run for each (non-credit card) gift batch. It seems to be working on their side, but I only see the RE bit.

We use BBMS, and so we run the Intacct export based on disbursement dates for Finance (which is also a good time for us to do a bit of interim reconciliation before month-end).

I'm hopeful to be able to make some more automated processes in the future, but have not looked to see if they have an API, or what would be possible through that. For now, it's just on the back-burner wish list.

  • @Nicole Holt Do you use the Post to GL to get the info you need for journal entries or do you only use exports? Finance wants to use Post to GL to get the csv file with GL Distribution account numbers, but not being familiar with Sage, I'm not sure that it's going to get them exactly what they need.

@Christina Mohler: We are working around all of that: I have the GL info that our finance dept needs (program #, bank account, location code, restriction code) saved as fund attributes that I include in the export. Also, to be 100% honest--and I know this isn't the best--we export from a gift query (there are only 1:1 fields, so we don't have a problem with dupes). We do not post to GL.

@Christina Mohler We are basically doing the same as @Nicole Holt.

We don't use Sage, but did switch from FE to NetSuite a couple of years ago and we're using PostOMatic to post to the GL. The result is a csv file that meets the specifications our Finance team needs. It's not very expensive, though implementation can but a bit frustrating - we had to repeat requests a few times to get things working before we could go live.

We are moving over to Sage Intacct as well and trying to figure out how we can get RE to work with it.

  • @Steven Cianciarulo thanks so much for calling out PostOmatic, a great tool for RE NXT users who post to any non-Blackbaud financial system. Here at Omatic, we've been able to streamline and simplify some previous implementation challenges by leveraging Omatic Cloud.
