BBID Error - "This user already exists"

We connected our parents today. What is the solution to this error message? I have disconnected the account and reconnected the account. I have cleared the browser history. I continue to get this error.

    @Colleen McManus we experienced this a few times - BB said that the parent had a BBID account with a different institution.

    @Colleen McManus if the parent sees that message, they can just go to your login URL, enter their email and complete the process.

    They either created a BBID already from another organization or created one from your initial invite but never logged back into your URL.

    • The parent should navigate to your log in URL
    • Once the parent enters their email address and clicks next, they will get the notice that "Your username is being converted to use Blackbaud ID with your email address:" they should click "Continue."
    • They will be re-directed to the BBID sign- n (vs sign up) page. If the parent doesn't remember their password, they can use the "Forgot password?" link.

    @Colleen McManus The parent may have an account with another school. In that case, they need to sign in at signin.blackbaud.com and sign in to their current account. Then they can sign in to your school account at your login.

    @Colleen McManus It's also possible that the parent uses their email address in their student's account. That is and issue I have been resolving with some users. Especially with young children.

    Absolutely an issue I've been running into as well, particularly if you have account creation set up at the Inquiry or Application form stages. BBID requires a unique email address.
