emailing pre-registered event participants

Hi: We have a number of pre-registered events/art classes in our system, and I'd love to try to set-up an a way to automatically email reminders to registrants about the class, as well as automatically email a post-class evaluation, etc. I guess if I'm sticking with Altru that the Acknowledgement process is the best way to do this. However, I'm worried that it'll end up becoming cumbersome considering the amount of classes we offer each season (~30+ classes). Does anyone have any success stories regarding automatic email communications to students? Are there any third party options I should be looking at. (We do also use Constant Contact for our e-newsletter; but haven't really integrated it with Altru beyond exporting/importing email addresses.)

    @Nick Gaffney We send reminder emails through mailings though you have to run it manually every day.

    We send a reminder for certain tours daily. I built a query, download to excel, remove duplicates, copy the emails to my email……..sounds cumbersome, only takes a few minutes. Have not found an automatic option…..
