quick timeout with sso using google as the authentification method

Hi,

Teachers and students are experiencing a really quick timeout from the LMS with sso using google as the authentification method. They have to click the login button many times a day. Google takes it from there authenticating without having to re-enter a password but there is some hang time while it does that each time. Any advice how to lengthen that timeout?

We experienced something similar here. There used to be a setting in Core allowing you to specify your timeout length but that either goes away when you set up SSO or it's been taken away from everyone as a whole. I reached out to Blackbaud support and they indicated the timeout should be around 90 minutes now for BBID. They also insisted the problem was on my end and within our Google Workspace configuration (it definitely is not). They asked me to turn on logging in my browser and then send them a file after getting kicked out of the site too quickly. I ended up not being able to reproduce the problem in those days that followed, resulting in my ticket getting closed due to inactivity. That leads me to believe the support rep did some basic things on the Blackbaud side of things (clearing the cache for our hosted environment?) that fixed the issue. Before I reached out to Blackbaud support, I did notice that getting kicked out was only happening in one browser…can't remember at this point if it was Firefox or Chrome where it was happening.

We have had similar issues; teachers have reported losing work because of this (most common is that they get logged out while grading and have to re-grade).
