Billing Management

Hi guys,

We are new to the online version of this program, and only part-way through our conversion to all the online products. We are currently switching our Financial Edge over, and with that, we are looking to finalize the Billing Management piece, which was already largely done, but itnegrates with FE.

Unfortunately, I am facing some pressure on my end, due to one of the team hearing “disastrous results” reports about Billing Management implementations during their monthly meetings.

Of course, this is putting a massive halt on both the FE and other implementations. We are committed to the product at this point, and I worry every day I go with this half-hybrid system - we are half self hosted, and using the SMS entirely online - So our Day to day student work is done online, but Financials are all still locally-hosted.

I need to get over this hump, and push them to implement, and we will deal with the issues then, but there is so much negativity coming from these monthly meetings that I am being forced to re-evaluate (or delay).

Can anyone give me some insight here, maybe a bit of good news on the usage of Billing Management? I have been told that there is NO WAY we will be able to do this, but I see a number of threads here about people currently using BM, so it must be possible. Is it really THAT bad, that it's unusable? Help?

PS. We are small school, less than 250 students.

Dave, We have been in the EAP for Billing Management for 2 years. This is our first year with all parts working for us. We are quite pleased. We have been able to accomplish almost everything we had hoped to accomplish. It was difficult this past spring for our business office to be in 2 Student Billing modules at the same time. Student Billing 7 to finish 21-22 and Billing Management for 22-23 applications, integrated contracts and full on-line Student billing. If you have questions, please feel free to contact me.

Hi Dave,
We have also been in the EAP for Billing Management for 2 years. The system is fine, but I find the majority of the inconveniences come from the fact that some features that used to exist in Student Billing are not available in Billing Management. Our custom report for issuing tuition receipts (tax receipts) that existed in Student Billing cannot be duplicated in Billing Management which has led to a lot of manual work. Also, we had to transition from multiple are accounts in SB, to only one AR account in Billing Management. Again, this is a lot of manual work for our Finance Director.

Overall, these issues are manageable if you are a small school (we are also small, with 330 students). If you have any other questions, I'm happy to answer them.
