Database View Shortcut

Hello, currently to access Raiser's Edge database version I have to log in to the Blackbaud web portal, go to Raiser's Edge NXT, then open database view. Which then downloads a Citrix link to connect to database view. My question is, is there a way to put a shortcut on my desktop to enter database view directly without going through the web version? (on PC). New to Raiser's Edge this week, hope someone can help. Thanks in advance.

I don't know of a direct route to database view, but even if there were one I wouldn't recommend you use it. You don't say what your new role is (assuming it's database manager). I think it's important for everyone to go through web view so they are “forced” to look at it. If you're the DBM, you're going to want to learn web view along with database view. If you're a gift officer, you shouldn't be using database view at all.

@Kaleb Adam Are you logging into RE NXT or blackbaud.com so that your account is more secure because of MFA (Multi Factor Authentication)? Blackbaud has this multi step process to add security to everyone's login and to avoid hacking and data breaches. Best of luck. Annette

@Kaleb Adam Short answer is no, there is no way to add a shortcut directly in to database view.

I'm not sure what you mean by the Citrix link, but is it a launch.ica file? I see a lot of users going through extra clicks to deal with that. This knowledgebase article has information about how to automatically open that file. Not an enormous timesaver, but one less thing!

I know for some of our users they go to a citrix link from “open db view”. Mine goes directly to opening db view. Supposedly has something to do with version of citrix.

As others said to protect your data I don't think I would try any short cuts around RE NXT login.

@Kaleb Adam Kaleb - I use Google as my web browser and have it set-up to open to a saved set of 5 web pages each morning. Three of those are BB ones, and one of those is the RE7 Database Launch page (which is what one gets AFTER you click on the “coins” in the upper right of the BB screen). So after I login, all I have to do it hit “Launch” and RE (the database) open up within 30-40 seconds with no extra clicking. I use the database 99+% of the time and have no reason to “linger ” in the web view of RE; it's just part of the path for getting to where I do my work.

And the Knowledgebase article Karen Diener cited will save you one more step - so do that too.

I will look into setting up and opening my set web pages automatically each morning. I didn't know this was possible. Thank you for this tip
