Google Assignments- "overall feedback" not syncing with gradebook commenting

Our teachers are getting frustrated as they work through providing feedback to students through the platform. There seem to be two issues, and I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this:

  1. Teachers customize their feedback in the “overall feedback” box within google assignments, and then students are unable to view that, nor does it sync to become a comment in the gradebook.
  2. Teachers comment within the doc to provide feedback, and the students don't see it.

What is the issue??
