Complex Multi-Year Giving Report

I'm looking to build a report to look at giving to a specific campaign month-by-month for the past three years - I can think of a bunch of different ways to do this using queries/exports, but each way I can think of doing it would require a significant amount of time just organizing data after exporting. Does anyone have any ideas for building a report that could break down giving by month over multiple years? Or even if there is one report that I could run or build, and then just run it separately for each year I want to look at data for as opposed to having all years in one report would also work. Thank you!

@Hal Watts That sounds like something you could do by creating a pivot report in Excel.

I think you can accomplish this in database view, under “Campaigns, Funds, and Appeals Reports” and use the “Appeal Comparison Summary”. You can set your report periods and you can run a single appeal or multiple appeals. A second report exists for Fund Comparison Summary, and another for Campaign Comparison Summary.

I created a test report for a span of 3 months and this is what it looks like. Of course, you can adjust settings, filters, gift types, labels, etc. The only limitation is how many columns you can fit on the page in portrait mode.
