Sending Emails from NXT

Hi All, we are looking to explore sending emails from NXT. We'd love to hear from folks who are successfully using the email functionality in NXT.

We are using it office wide now and the staff has really embraced it. The set up and use is very intuitive and user friendly. We have also standardized our list names in NXT so staff know which lists to use for email marketing.

@Rob Odoardi - It is very easy to set up and utilize. I have used this successfully, but it would have been helpful to know its limitations in advance… so here you go a few things to be aware of as you explore this option -

• It cannot send to emails on relationship records, including spouse records. All emails need to be listed on the primary constituent's record.
• It has limited merge fields available for personalization, to the point where I do not recommend using the merge fields to attempt to personalize messages.
• It has the option to email to only the primary email or the first email found on a constituent record. If you would like to email to more than one email type: say your constituents have two emails on their records Email1 and Email2, you will need to copy your message prior to sending and send it twice - once specifically to the Email1 type and once to the Email2 type, etc.
• Once an email is sent, you can see a variety of information on how your constituents are interacting with the communication - be warned that not all of the stats listed on the top five messages are listed for all - the primary one missing is transaction conversion rates and amounts; once an email is the sixth most recent sent, this stat is no longer visible.
• Also when looking at email stats you are unable to see what links constituents interacted with within your email, only the stat that they ‘clicked’ something.
• Finally, email history for emails sent through NXT Email Marketing only exists in Web View. Email response is not an available filter in constituent list, and if you need to review hard/soft bounces to keep your email data clean, it can be laborious process - where you create a list of bounces from Email Marketing and then need to view each constituent record's Email History tile to determine how to update the email within Database View.

@Austen Brown You are truly the Queen of NXT! Regarding NXT emails…am I correct that there isn't a way to customize an email with someone's name? I think you can do this in OLX, but not in NXT. Is that correct?

@Austen Brown We are having trouble with mobile responsiveness of the emails created in the email designer. What am I doing wrong as everything I've read and heard is that they are supposed to be mobile responsive.

@Austen Brown Finally got off a long chat session. Apparently I need to send in incognito mode? They now work for gmail but they still show up wonky in my work email.

@Austen Brown I am wondering if anyone has used Canva to create a template and then bring it in to NXT. In addition to the limitations you mentioned, Austen, are there design limitations or size parameters that restrict layouts in web or mobile view? Thanks!

@Jennifer McPartlin - Welcome to BB Community forums! There is no way to ‘bring in’ a template created elsewhere, as you're unable to view/edit the HTML code. I've seen folks create a mock-up in Canva and then recreate it within NXT, but that ends up doubling your work. I recommend experimenting in Email Marketing to see what work's best - its fairly intuitive to use, you add elements through drag/drop.
