we just submitted batches with the gift dates in january but those funds are suppose to be in for december of 22. We have commited and it is posted. We were unable to change globally. Now we had the idea to check mark batch recurring on batch design. It duplicated the batch so now its a single batch counted twice.

Question so we don't mess up more than we already have. Is there a way to change the gift date so it post in december. and how do you get rid of the duplicate batch.

Is your second batch posted? If not you should be able to do a global change of the gift/GL post date using Admin > Global Change Records > Gifts.

If you can change date on the second batch, then make a query of the gifts in the original batch (Gift Query>Batch # equals XXXX).
In admin (you will need user rights) go to Globally Delete Records USE CAUTION whenever in the GLOBALLY functions. Choose record type Gifts. Include - select the query of gifts in the batch. I always run pre-delete report and create queries to be sure everything is correct. On delete options you will need to pick all applicable ones and move to the right panel - are any gifts soft credited? Applied to pledges? Etc. When you think you have it click delete now. You should get report of all that will be changed. If it looks good, then uncheck the pre-delete box and actually run the delete.

If you've never done this type of thing as a safety net so you have the data, I would export the validation report from the batch and/or run a gift validation report. Just in case the worst happens and you need to reenter the gifts.

You may want to pull up the knowledgebase article about doing this. I think I covered all the steps but don't have a batch I want to delete to go through all the steps.

@Vanessa Rodriguez I recommend following @JoAnn Strommen's suggestion to solve this issue this time around.

For the future, if you find yourself in a similar situation where you need to change a gift date or GL post date on posted gifts, you can run the “Unpost Plug-in” on those specific gifts, make the change, then repost them. A word of warning when running this Plug-in triple check that the static gift query is correctly loaded into the plug-in before you press “OK”; if it is not the plug-in will unpost EVERY gift record in your entire system.
