HELP! I am new to RENXT. I accidently made duplicate records. When merging duplicate records what is the difference between the Source Record and the Target Record. Which do I want to keep? TIA

@Carrie Yakush The source record is going to be the record you're merging from. The target is the record you're merging into. Ideally, you'd want to keep the older record. If you just created the duplicate, you'll want the source to be the record that you just erroneously created and the target to be the original record.

@Carrie Yakush - Adding to @Dariel Dixon's explanation, once the merge is completed in both views (web view and database view) it is a best practice to save the Source record's constituent ID as an Alias in the Target record, for future assistance when searching the database as the alias field can be utilized to search for records through a number of avenues including the advanced search window in database view.

@Austen Brown, never thought of saving the Source constituent ID in the Alias window. I can see that being helpful when revisiting old mailing lists. Nice tip!
