Adding courses to my Diploma Requirements

I have been tasked with setting up our Diploma Requirements. I am trying to add courses to each Diploma Requirement - for example adding our course English 1 to the list that meets the English requirement. However, when I try to add English 1 (that is what we call the class) the program pulls up a strange list of courses (from who knows where) and won't let me enter my course name. Suggestions
