tracking candidates who don't complete the admissions process

I'm trying to determine the best way to track applicants who express initial interest, but then abandon the process before we reach a decision point. We would like to be able to track two separate situations: 1) abandons after having completed an application or 2) before even finishing it.

One option would be to make it a Decision type, but that doesn't feel quite right (it's not our decision!). Perhaps I should swap in an alternate checklist for those applicants, and set the status that way?

Either way I assume once I get the status set, we'll inactivate the student. But any ideas are welcome – thank you!

Eric

(Apologies if this is a newbie question, I can't find anything in the discussion boards about this!)

Hi, @Eric Bird - when you inactivate a candidate, you need to select a Candidate Inactivation Reason. You can populate as many options as you need to your table value (Enrollment management> Admissions > Admission setup > Candidate profile settings > Candidate Inactivation Reasons) such as “Did Not Complete Process, ”No Application Submitted", “No Interest”, etc.

Once you inactivate a candidate, they change roles from Candidate to Past Candidate. However, you can adjust the filters on your Candidate lists to report on Past Candidates and throw in the Inactivation reason column for reporting.

  • @Bryan Lorenzo thanks--that's perfect!
