Annual Giving Statements

Hello all!
I hope all is well. Quick question! When using the Annual Giving Statement from (RE database view), is it best practice to include gifts from donor advised fund (United Way, Benevity, JustGiving, YourCause ect)? Or should the giving statement only include cash gifts received? Thanks in advance. Take care, be safe and have a good day!

@Lanetta Gilder Hard credit gifts only. DAF gifts do not receive tax credit as those gifts have already been deducted.

If donors have a mix of hard and soft-credit giving (DAF) for the year, it may be misleading to only include the hard-credit giving as a way to acknowledge the full impact of their support… there is a way to select Soft Credit Gifts To Soft credit recipients in the Annual Statement report and it creates a footnote - and they are eligible to claim all of their charitable giving to IRS - so why not include all giving regardless of how payment was received? This would not apply to corporate matching gifts since the donor cannot claim that as IRS charitable giving…

I think it depends on the purpose of the statement. if it's for tax purposes, 3rd party gifts have normally already seen the tax credit. If the purpose is to show them the full impact they have made on the organization, then include all.
