Proposal/Opportunity Amount Funded workaround

Our CEO and team are looking to streamline process for gift entry and applying gifts to proposals/opportunities while entering the gifts in batch.

Ran into this major obstacle: KB 90932

Linking gift to proposal does not update amount funded

The Amount funded field on a proposal record populates with the value populated in the Amount applied field when linking the gift to a proposal through batch. This behavior results in the Amount funded field to populate with an incorrect value if there are multiple gifts linked to the proposal.

I tested and yes, it changes amount funded to the gift amount being entered, not a cumulative total of gifts.
The workaround given is to manually change on the prop/opp. Has anyone found a better way? Is this what you are doing to update amount funded?

@JoAnn Strommen Hi JoAnn, since Finance does the gift entry, linking gifts except a pledge has been difficult. Once a month, I run a report on proposals not linked to a gift and manually link the gift to the proposal. I am interested in hearing from others on this as well.

@JoAnn Strommen we are having the same issue and I have only been able to update manually no other workaround I could find. Here is a related IdeaBank post you can vote for!
