Globally Added Actions

Does anyone enter Action notes globally? I am looking for some best practices on how the best way to get these entered and then completed after they are uploaded.

    @Staci Strauss - Welcome to BB Community! Check out this KB Article for how to add actions through DBV > Administration > Global Add: https://kb.blackbaud.com/knowledgebase/articles/Article/37488. It is a best practice to utilize a static query when applying actions - the actions will be the same for every record.

    Alternatively, if you are looking to add unique actions (differences between records) you'll want to do this through an import. Here is a KB Article that explains how: https://kb.blackbaud.com/knowledgebase/articles/Article/46457

  • @Austen Brown reposting one of your links as there was a slight typo that meant it doesn't work. The link for the knowledgebase article on globally adding actions should have been:

    @Alan French Thank you!

  • @Staci Strauss, yes, we enter Actions globally all the time, as most of our non-Development Fundraisers aren't fluent in adding them. You can also later use a Global Change to mark them completed, if you pull them in a unique query grouping (such as Type = Event Phonecall AND Solicitor Name equals Dudley AND Date Added = 2-17-23).

    I'm not going to reiterate what Austen has already shared, as far as technical process. I will say though, that if you aren't comfortable with Import, you can still use Global Add to bulk upload a batch of Actions that are similar in nature, even if they have minor differences. It is still much easier to use your Global Add output query to run through a group of already-entered Actions and tweak the Notes, than it is to have to add each Action individually from scratch.

  • @Faith Murray Thank you so much this is very helpful!

  • @Faith Murray Hi Faith do you happen to have any document instruction on this process?
