Recurring gifts discovery - bulk converting manual to automated

  • @Juliana Lawson Please make sure they are aware that there is no way to access Credit Card Updater when they make this transition as it does not apply to ARG's. They can vote for the idea for that to be implemented on the Idea Bank in hopes that it is added in the future.

    @Lee Grisham Thank you for mentioning this! We are simultaneously working on the credit card updater issue, so hopefully we could release these features together.

  • @Juliana Lawson Definitely interested. Also there needs to be documentation about these manual recurring gifts. We were onboarded to BBMS last year and no where in the documentation or onboarding was it indicated that we would have to convert recurring gifts created via Online Express in order for them to be automatically processed. We ended up losing revenue last year because the process was not documented and we expected recurring gifts to process automatically. It's an issue.

  • @Lee Grisham I had a donors recurring gift that did not process in Jan. and it had reject by their name, I emailed the donor and left message to see if they got an updated card. They didn't get back with me but in Feb. The card process and I haven't updated anything on my side. I thought their expiration date had come and they received a new card and it processed the following month. So I need to understand how this happen.

  • @Juliana Lawson Yes, please forward. The procedure for repeat giving piques my attention. I only recently began working in my current role. Also, we are manually adding reoccurring contributions.

  • Hello, @Juliana Lawson we converted our CC recurring gifts using RedArc. The process was smooth and fast. The only down side is that thier system does not support ACH recurring gifts which we try to convet manually everyday.

    @Lee Grisham thank you for staying on top of this and for posting those additional links. I can see from the first link that CCU does work for RENXT Automated Recurring Gifts web view, if you update your cards in a different way.

    Also, great news! Very soon your Automated Recurring Gifts credit cards in web view will be automatically updating. We will need to do further testing and little bit more work before making a formal announcement.

    @Lee Grisham, thank you for your post. I can confirm that CCU works for gifts in both in Webview (NXT) or Database view. The Updater process works at the Blackbaud Payment Services (BBPS) level, so the location of the recurring gift doesn't affect functionality. The only thing that needs to happen in RE database view is to register the cards each month in either the Data Health Center in the US or Admin Center outside the US. You will run the registration service each month to pick up new recurring gifts or deregister terminated gifts. This ideally should be done around the 8th of every month. You will then return to the same spot around the 15th to run your control report to see which gifts were updated or those that were not. If you search the keyword Credit Card Updater in the Knowledge Base, you will find the instructions you are looking for. I hope that helps.”
