Adding New Tables

Is there a way to add new Tables to Blackbaud. I work for a dog rescue, and We need a new table that answers the Home type they live in, IE: Single family Home, Condo, Rent, Multi family home, etc. These would show in our custom fields and I understand it would be a table entry, and want it to show as a Home the with the appropriate choices. How would I go about doing this without it being a donor category table?

While Blackbaud did introduced management of tables in RE NXT webview, i haven't really used it to say much about it.

However, you can easily do this in RE Database view, you can add a table and then whatever entries you want in the table (provided you have the permission to do so)

What “type” of custom fields (attribute in database view terminology)? are you “attributing” a constituent record? address record?

@Melissa Duffy As Alex said you can easily do in in Database View, but you can now easily do it in RE NXT as well. I assume you want to know the Home Type for people who want to adopt or foster dogs. If that is the case, just create a custom field (RE NXT) or attribute (Database) of Home Type and then add the various types for the drop down box). Database View is the easiest way to do it.

@Melissa Duffy, as others have said you can do this easily in DB view. I haven't tried webview for it. Either way, you'll need Admin rights or expanded privileges.

In DB view, go to the Config tab, click on Attributes, then Constituents, and then add a new attribute at the bottom of the list. Under column 2, “Data Type”, you get to select “Table”, and then under the “Table Name” column, scroll all the way to the bottom and click “[Add New Table]”. Be sure to make your new Attribute “active”.
