Creating Discounts for tickets sold for certain days

Hi everyone!

We are in the process of reworking our ticketing system. Some information needed:

We give all membership levels free tickets for weekdays. On weekends all but one of our membership levels receive free tickets. The other level receives 50% off tickets on weekends.

I created 2 discounts with the availability for one being weekdays and the other being weekends. I realized though that this doesn't limit the availability for the date the ticket is actually scheduled for, just the date the ticket is bought on. This is causing tickets purchased on a weekday for the weekend to ring up free online.

Has anyone found a work around for this? I messaged support and they suggested creating separate programs for weekday vs weekend tickets but that was what the new program aimed to steer away from. Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions!

We use Social Good to work around this. We received a grant where residents of the city of Cleveland can attend free on Sundays and had to make the tickets available online. Check out cmnh.org > tickets > Mandel Community Days “Free for Cleveland Residence" button.
