Globally Change Constituent Appeal Responses

Hi there!

I would love to see the ability to change specific Constituent Appeal Responses. The Global Change to the records replaces all Reponses. I don't believe there is a way to update this aside from manual data entry, which is impossible for 700 records.

  • @Rae Hebron you should be able to add/change appeal responses using a constituent appeal import. You'll need the appeal import ID, which you can either get from an export or by using import's “create import file” option to export your data (a feature I don't make enough use of!)

The problem with using global change for this kind of thing is that it requires you to use a query type that matches the type of record you want to change, e.g. in this case you'd need a “constituent appeal” query, which doesn't exist. If you use a constituent query then it will attempt to change all appeals for those constituents, as you've found out. Same problem with things like proposals which also don't have their own query type :(

    They should implement those queries!

  • @Rae Hebron that would be nice but I wouldn't hold my breath - there are numerous suggestions in the idea bank going back at least 7 years to add a proposal query type and that hasn't happened yet… ?

We've just migrated from RE to BBCRM and while there have definitely been challenges, I'm pleasantly surprised by the number of different query types available in BBCRM - I'm now spoiled by being able to create things like address and email queries ?

As mentioned by Alan, wouldn't hold my breath.

It is best you use what is available to you, Blackbaud isn't likely going to implement a new query type since there is ability to do what you want already via import.

Give it a try or learn it via Blackbaud University, you will be surprise by how much more “mass” data changes can be done once you get good at import (new and update)
