"Parameter Not Valid" error when renaming merchandise item

I run the museum's shop and use Altru for retail sales and inventory management. I've noticed that a handful of items I've created will return an error if I try to edit the item's title (ie, rename them). The error returned is “Parameter not valid” and it is persistent for those few items across multiple sessions and terminals. The items scan fine, and otherwise operate normally… I just can't rename them as I can any other item. I don't think I've used a different method to create the item either. Any ideas on why this is happening, and how to fix it? So far the only workaround I can find is to delete or disable the item, and re-create it with a new SKU. That's OK for brand new items, but presents inventory management problems for older existing items.

Hi Jay,

I've never experienced that. The only time I have an issue editing the name of an item is if I try to use the exact name of another item. But the error message tells you “Merchandise exists with that name.”
