Lesson Plans Posted for Admin to have access to

Our previous LMS allowed us to have teachers enrolled as students of a class which we had a recurring assignment for them to upload their lesson plans. This allowed for admin to easily have access to all staff lesson plans from one place (for subs, etc.). How does your school handle teachers turning in their lesson plans?

@Hayley Field One possible solution: If the Admin has a Platform Manager role, then the admin can impersonate the teacher to see their lessons, etc. However, that's not “all in one place” but rather per teacher, so it's probably not ideal to review things in bulk.

I'm curious to hear what other methods schools use too, especially to prepare for substitutes. I remember when I was a teacher, we had to have our regular lessons, but then a separate set on file specifically for subs. The sub versions were usually simpler and didn't use as much tech, nor had class visits to the library, etc. The sub lessons were usually stand alone lessons that didn't necessarily fit into our normal study units/themes.

We don't do this for lesson plans, but we do it for other documents. Why not just have a Faculty Community Group and make teachers all leaders of the group so they can post to it? Then, there are many ways you could set it up to house the lesson plans.

  • @Hayley Field We have a system in which we create grade-level classes and add all teachers that teach that grade. We require teachers to post major projects and tests in this class as well as their actual class section so Admin has an easy at-a-glance view of all the major assignments going on in a given week. You could do the same thing but require teachers to upload lesson plans as assignments.

  • @Hayley Field @Bryna Gleich - I would not give them platform manager or even a clone of that. We use a curriculum planner called Rubicon Atlas for this.
