Attachment Tags

There is currently no way to delete or edit or merge attachment tags once they are created. Additionally there is no drop down without knowing the attachment tags available or having a current attachment tag used in a record. I'd also like to be able to segment particular attachment tags. They are not very useful as currently configured.

@Melissa Anderson While there is no way to edit, change or delete Tags in RE NXT, you can create lists in RE NXT and use Tags as a Column and even filter off of tags. I will say that no matter what Blackbaud creates (and RE is a very robust system), you cannot please every single person and even if you had everything imaginable, there still would be someone who wants something else. The key is that you have to learn to work with the confines of the system and staff needs to know this. RE is not a magical tool that caters to everyone's whim.

  • @Melissa Anderson From what I've seen of other software products, this is that nature of how tagging works so it doesn't seem to be exclusive to RE. There isn't a “tag library” in the same way that there is a code table. I don't get excited at all when salespeople talk about tagging.

Still, it may be worth searching in the Idea Bank to see if others have logged similar frustrations and you can add your vote.

  • Feedback to the programmers: We live in a small community. I know most of my donors personally and there are automatic tags in constituent records that really don't apply in several instances. Another angle, for example, is that we are a Hospice org. It is common that we get one-time donations from family members afar and we know that those donors can't really be cultivated for future donations so trying to cultivate those relationships is not a good investment for us. The automatic tag features don't account for that kind of reality. The tags are auto-generated based on the information put into the system but doesn't account for a workforce where, for example, we have a amazing data-entry person who has been with the org for 20 years. She started when donor tracking was done on an excel spreadsheet. These NXT upgrades are high-level and really thoughtful but there are parts of the workforce and existing constituent information that are going to be incongruent with these features. The users of the software are going to know their donors best and our ability to use tags efficiently is going to depend on our ability to edit them for specific constituents.
