Student Photo Upload

We are looking to collect photos of our students ahead of the start of school in order to have their ID cards printed and ready for them on day one, and I'm looking for the best way to do it. I know it can be done via checklists, which is easy to set up, but I wonder about how easily we'd be able to bulk export those photos in order to edit and import them into our key card software.

We were also thinking of just doing a Google form as another option.. Curious if anyone out there is doing something similar. Thanks!

  • @Derek Porter I am interested in that answer as well. Currently, we are making Student ID cards using a separate software.

If all your students already have their Google accounts and they will be uploading the photos rather than parents I’d say Google forms with a file upload field is the easiest option. Since my school usually has parents upload photos and Google doesn’t natively allow file uploads from non-Google users I used a solution with a combination of tools. I built a form in Wufoo and used a workflow tool called Zapier to take the files from Wufoo, rename them and upload them to a specified Google Drive folder. I did find the renaming to be a nice benefit since I could match it to the format I needed for the ID system as long as I used form fields or plain text.

@Derek Porter Currently, there is no way to bulk download files uploaded. You can vote on this enhancement request for the feature https://blackbaudk12.ideas.aha.io/ideas/K12OB-I-2257

  • Thanks for confirming that @Bryan Lorenzo. Voted.

@Ravendra Persaud thank you for sharing that.. that looks promising. It's a good point regarding who would be doing the uploading.. I had started looking at Jotform too to see what they can do.
