Designation Search

Hello! Has anyone been able to set up the designation search within an online donation form? I tried the new function under website components but you have to choose all of your funds to allow them to be searchable. Once that is done, it creates a long list down the web page. I would like to just highlight a few funds and then allow donors to search for other funds. Has anyone been able to accomplish this within NXT or any other Blackbaud software? Thanks much!

Given that RE NXT donation form does not give you the option, as you are aware, it cannot be done.

RE NXT Donation form is also not an embed component form, instead it is an iframe-ed form, you will not be able to use javascript DOM manipulation neither.

This can be done using Online Express Donation form OR Luminate Online donation form. Online Express donation form is a embed that creates the HTML component onto the page it's loaded into, not iframe-ed in, so you are able to do DOM manipulation to basically do anything you want through JavaScript. Luminate Online donation form allows for far more customization directly from within LO. However, both option requires you/your org has web developer expertise in direct HTML/CSS/JavaScript coding, not someone that just know how to create a page using CMS (i.e. WordPress).

@Angie ONeill The RENXT donation form allows you to pass in designation (funds) as variables in the URL. An alternate option for you to use with the RENXT donation form would be to highlight your funds in your webpage content (through images, content, etc) and hyperlink to the donation form, passing in the designation name to your donation form.

You could pair this with the designation search website component on the same webpage and offer the highlighted fund AND search option that you are looking for. Note, this only works on the Blackbaud hosted version of the form right now and not the embedded version of the form.

@Samantha McGuin Will the designation option be made to list Fund 1, Fund 2, Fund 3 and Other with text box for entry? Or is this function available. A staff person just told me it wasn't.

There is no way we want a list of over 2000 active funds to show for a donor to choose from. We need the option for them to type in the fund - the name of their scholarship, name of their endowment, department fund.

Like we currently use:

@JoAnn Strommen We don't currently have a way for them to type in the fund. I have many organizations tell me they leave the Comment field turned on for this, and that donors often put any fund direction in that open comments box. But in the meantime, definitely go vote for this in the Idea Bank for future consideration!
