Course codes now showing on Faculty and Student schedules

Did I miss a setting or announcement about course codes showing up in faculty and student schedules? They seem to have appeared and I don't remember seeing anything in the release notes or otherwise.

@Lauren Henderson We noticed the addition of Course Codes this morning as well. I opened a Case and received this reply “The display of the course code on the student/teacher/faculty member schedule was in part for our Tuesday release this week. While this has been implemented, I am working to determine if the display change can be toggled on or off. Once I have a confirmative answer from our team on this, I will be back in touch!” I don't recall an announcement that this was being added.

We just noticed this as well. Immediate confusion from our faculty and students The fact that this cannot be toggled off is infuriating.

Similar issue at our school. Tech support pointed me to the KnowledgeBase Article as if that is a worthy form of notification. Voting for a toggle to turn this off, as well.

@Lauren Henderson - Oddly, the course code is NOT displayed with the course name on days that the section is not scheduled to meet.

Wow. Thanks for pointing this out. I had a number of teachers ask me about this yesterday and I started asking around, “Who changed all the course names?”. ?

Hi all,

First, an apology for the change not being included in the release letter for 1/16/24. This was a miss for us and was unintentionally left out.

We implemented course codes with the course name based on feedback from some schools that the information is needed and valuable for their schools. BUT! We hear you that for your schools these codes are either unnecessary or confusing depending on your use of the Course Code field.

We will be temporarily removing the course code from the screens within the Faculty, Student and Parent portals where it was added with the recent release on 1/16/24. We will be bringing them back along with a customization option in the near future so we can support the needs of more of our schools. Be sure to add your vote to or follow the idea listed in this thread so you can get the additional notification when that customization is released.

Thank you for turning a strike into a potential home run. Being able to customize [uniformly] the way course names are displayed would be incredible.
