RE and FENXT Integration

We recently integrated RE with FENXT - I am wondering if there is a way to configure “Gift Subtype” into the “Split Gift" screen in RE? We do not want to take the option away from donors to “add an additional gift" to their online donation forms, but when I go to submit Credit Card Remits, I have to basically repost every split gift that involves a restricted and unrestricted fund split because we have multiple bank accounts depending on if the gift is restricted or not. If this is not possible, but you have a different process that resolves this issue for you, I would also love to know that. Thanks!

    @Madison Abbott I think this would depend in part on how you have the GL distribution setup. Theoretically, if the Restricted and Unrestricted are set up based upon the Fund, this should be possible. However, depending on how you're using the Fund versus the subtype, you may have to enter these as two separate gifts.

  • @Christine Robertson Thank you for your response! I believe our distributions are based on the Fund, but it does confuse me a bit. Would you be able to further explain how theoretically it could be possible? Or point me to an article that explains that? Again, thank you for your time and response!

    @Madison AbbottThe split gift screen fields are hard coded. There is not a way to add the gift sub-type field as an option.

    If you are using the gift subtype to filter the $ into your restricted/unrestricted for each gift, it's not part of the split screen gift.

    To avoid re-posting I think you would need two different funds. They would filter into your restricted/unrestricted funds.

    @Madison Abbott
    A single gift record can only have 1 gift subtype. A single gift record can have split gift to different campaign fund appeal package.

    That said, I don't understand your question or issue on “reposting”, bank of deposit, and fund (RE fund I'm assuming, not FE Fund)

    So if you can elaborate more on your distribution setup in RE fund and your account code setup in FE, can better help answer you

    @Madison Abbott When you open the Fund record, you can see a tab for GL Distributions. On that tab, there are GL account numbers for every Gift Type. These can be furth broken down by Gift Subtype. In my sample data above, the “Acreage” line is a Gift Subtype that I have mapped for this Fund and the Gift Type of Cash.

    Without knowing all of the ins and outs of your data setup, it's hard to say what you can/can't do in your system, but from a software standpoint, one gift can be split between Restricted and Unrestricted when the Fund is the field that determines what is Restricted.

    Hope that helps you look at your GL Distributions to see if that would help your situation!
