Dashboard # of donors for an appeal over years

This should be something simple, and I'm new, so go easy - I've been trying to absorb a ton of everything quickly… eep.

But I'd like to build (NXT or desktop view) a simple dashboard that would tell me how many donors I had for a given appeal year over year. For some of my appeals we make new ones each year (cancer 2021 / cancer 2022…) so it's easy enough to make a report for that.

But for our ‘monthly donors’ or our ‘employee giving’ appeals which are ongoing, I can't seem to find a simple way to say how many donors we had in the various years without having to make separate queries for each or do different dashboard for the different date ranges.

@Ryan Moore I don't believe it would be possible in NXT due to your non-segmented appeals without Insight Designer, which is not included.

As for database view, you could easily find totals one by one using the Appeal Summary. ∑ icon when you open the Appeal. Change the date to be the range you need and it should show total gifts broken down by year.

In DBV I could do that summary, but then it's just going to show just for that one date range. What I'd like is to see years next to each other, rather than do 2018, get the number, re run it and do it for 2019, get the number, re rerun it and use 2020, etc…

and the summary can break down by year, but just a ‘total’… can i get # of donors per year there?

@Ryan Moore I suggest to use the Comparions and Summary report in Database RE Reports (Demographic and Statistical Reports). There you can filter off of your appeal or appeals, the gift types and choose up to 5 report periods. For the Field tab, choose Gift Appeal and choose what columns, you want to see. If you need more report periods, just create a second report with those time frames. In my example I choose one appeal in the filters. Make sure in the gift types field, your types match up for each period.
