Tax Receipting Roadmap for NXT

Since the deprecation of the Microsoft Office integration with RE7, my org has continued to use the Database View Mail module to export and then merge to word files for receipts. I am excited about the prospect of NXT receipting, and have been testing for a few days.

In terms of process, it would help me to know if Blackbaud is planning on introducing the One Receipt per Gift/Consolidated Receipts system to the NXT receipting system. If this is in the roadmap I would recommend my org wait until this is up and running to switch over. If not it will help to know that it is time to redo the process completely.

Thanks!

Have you reached out to your Customer Success Manager with this question? They may not know for sure, but they should be able to give you a better answer. Another way to stay informed about this information is to tune in to the Product Update Briefings (PUBs) which are typically held in October and April. You can see records of previous PUBs here.

Following. This is our exact scenario as well. Highly manual process for mailmerge receipting and we are only able to use NXT webview about 10% of the time. We would like to switch over as year-end is always a bit of a nightmare ?

Just some background on our experience to date. We went live with NXT Receipting shortly after it was made available in Australia last year. Our solution for consolidated receipts is to exclude them from NXT Receipting by using an NXT gift list that is generated by a DB-view static query. This query excludes constituents marked for ‘Consolidated receipts’ (amongst a few other things that we can't specify in NXT gift lists) and is refreshed regularly via Queue.

One thing to keep in mind with receipting in NXT is that it's really only for sending eReceipts (currently). We made the decision a couple of years back to move to the email as the default distribution for receipts, so this wasn't an issue for us. We still use the Receipts function in DB-view for those that need to go by mail and we merge into a Word-template after exporting the data for those (only a dozen or so each week).

We haven't decided on the process for consolidated receipts yet (our financial year-end is 30 June). I need to explore Giving Statements a bit more, but also will need to consider other options. We previously used a similar email-first approach with Campaign Monitor and an uploaded list. I'm comfortable with doing that again if necessary.

  • @Brian Soucie We are a Blackbaud Technology Partner that has developed a solution for Raiser’s Edge NXT that processes receipts, acknowledgements, matching gift acknowledgements, consolidated receipts, etc. Here is a link to this in the Market Place for your consideration. Please let me know if you have any questions or want more information.
