Ratings - Source and Category linking

I'm not able to find how I link a category to a specific source so when I choose a source it brings all available categories. This might be changed since all table settings have been moved to NXT from the database view but this is essential when you have plenty of categories.

@Alper Gungor Are creating or exporting? Have you tried just keying in the source/category you want instead of looking at dropdown. I'm not sure how to advise as I don't know where you are at and exactly what you are wanting to do. Are you entering one-off? Importing? db or web view?

IMO, the ratings source and category are a bit confusing and backwards. We actually ended up importing our ratings twice - with what I would consider the source as the source with various categories and again with what I consider source as the category. One way works better to filter in web view and the other way to export specific ratings in db export.

@JoAnn Strommen, I'm creating source and category entries. Yes, I tried keying in but that didn't make any difference.

I hear how you figured that out using 'source' as a ‘category', so you might not need to fill in the source field at all.

@Alper Gungor The categories and source entries are now viewed, edited and/or created in webview. Control Panel > Tables > Sources.

I don't think there really is a “link” between source and category. When the ratings are imported you choose source and choose category.

@JoAnn Strommen There's no link for sure but the article ‘Custom Ratings' - link below - on Blackbaud Help website noted that ‘You can only select a category that corresponds to the source you select.’

It's not convenient when you have so many categories brought up since most of them are irrelevant to the source.

@Alper Gungor yes, we have quite a long list also.

A suggestion might be to re-order the list. You could put the ones you use at the top.
