Make Constituents Active in bulk

We have a need to ‘re-activate’ a large number of Constituent records - is it possible to do this through a bulk update or global change? Thanks, David

  • @David Wright - It should be a relatively easy update. We would probably use our Brightvine Data Link (BVDL) tool to update the ISINACTIVE field to FALSE. This could also be scripted if you don't have a tool like the BVDL to make bulk updates. You might want to consider removing the Inactive Reason information and/or adding a Documentation Note or other indicator to this group of records that explains why and when you are reactivating them. And, stating the obvious, try it out in a TEST environment to be sure there are no unintended consequences or other pieces of related data that might be good to update at the same time.

  • @Amanda Brown - Thank you for taking the time to reply! I will look into the BrightVine Data Link. Dave

Since “Activate” is a record operation, you can actually do this by creating a data list and choosing True for the Multi-select option for that action. Take a look at this KB article for a step by step guide https://kb.blackbaud.com/knowledgebase/articles/Article/192071

  • @Ashley Moose thanks so much for your message! This was exactly what I was looking for and will help solve our situation. Thanks again! David
