Address Finder Service Pack Update

I had watch a product update and they had mentioned making changes to the file that is returned to CRM for Address update to contain only those addresses that need to be updated. I am wondering what Service Pack that change will be in.

  • @John Kuehn Hi John - that functionality will be part of Service Pack 36 expected to be released in mid-March. Thanks!

  • @William Burke Thanks. I may wait to have our test environment updated until the release. I was getting ready to move towards SP35. I think we will test SP35 and SP36 together.

  • @John Kuehn Oh this is pretty exciting! We just went to SP35 and probably won't do another upgrade until mid Fall, but this would be a welcome change! Nothing like committing a file of 2 million records when you only need to update 100,000.

  • @John Kuehn Curious if you have tested SP36? We just did and found it to greatly improve steps 3 and 4 since it is only processing the changes now. However, we typically run a new address finder process each month so we are trying to figure out how best to run the script each month. Our Data Management team will need to create the process and then our technical team has to run the script. Does your organization use the same address finder process each month (or each time you run the process) or do you also create a new process each time? We started this back when we used to have random issues popping up with the process and Blackbaud's recommendation to resolve was always create a new process so we just started doing that to prevent issues and it seemed to have worked so we are hesitant to go back to running the same process each time. Ideally we would like this optimization to be built into the address finder process instead of running a script but that doesn't sound like it is in the works based on what I heard from support so we are just curious what other groups are doing.

  • @Cassidy Eaton We have tested it in staging. Have not loaded it into production. We found a bug with something else BB is investigating for us. I have a separate process created for 250 sites. To may records to run through one process. The testing in staging speeds the process up greatly.
