Emails getting filtered

We are hearing from several new candidate families that are missing emails from our enrollment office. While I know a lot of this is out of our control, I'm wondering if there are steps other schools have taken to minimize the problem?

The first that seems to be missed is the email inviting users to the portal, which they would receive after submitting an inquiry. This is understandable since it's coming from an unfamiliar address. It would be great if we had a little more control over how it shows up, but I'm not even sure how that would work.

But then our admissions office reports that several times recently people have missed the invitation to come for a student visit. This is after they have been in the portal and have received multiple other correspondences from us, so we're confused as to why this would be missed - does it come from a different sender/email address on our end?

If anyone has tips on how to improve this, we would appreciate hearing them!

  • @Amanda Polson have you updated you DKIM and SPF keys with your domain provider? If you are a Google campus you will need to start there and have a new key generated and sent to whomever manages you DNS. If you are unfamiliar with any of this please feel free to contact me. • @Jeff Gaudet thank you! I'm certain we have not done this. We do use google and our emails are through gmail, I'm not sure about being a google campus though. I will send you a note, I would definitely appreciate some insight!

  • @Jeff Gaudet I have found the Blackbaud information about DKIM and SPF, so I'll go through them first. Thank you so much for pointing me in the right direction!!
