How do people integrate Google Calendar with Blackbaud Enrollment/LMS, etc...?

Our Sr. Admins prefer to do their calendar planning in Google and I used to export it, run it through a free program, and export to CSV so I could manipulate and then import to Blackbaud. It began problematic, so I created a private Planning Calendar in Blackbaud for them to use and then I can export, import to delete the events and then import the events again so the appropriate calendars are tagged. With all of that said, they want to go back to planning on Google Calendar so I'm wondering if there is a way to integrate the two calendars. We occasionally get emails from School Cal, I think it is. What are others using?

  • @Josceline Reardon I would try setting your calendar using ical

  • Hi @Kathy Hannon thank you for responding. If I set up an ical feed wouldn't that just pull all events from the Google Calendar into Blackbaud, but not tag them for different calendars?

For instance. In Blackbaud we have different calendars for admission event dates, lower school, middle school, fine arts, etc… but our Sr, Admin would just be adding the events to one Google Calendar, so how would the events be tagged for the appropriate calendars in Blackbaud?

I've seen a thing for SchoolCal.co that integrates Google & Blackbaud, but I think it is Blackbaud to Google, not the other way around. Also looks like it only refreshes nightly. I reached out to ask questions.

  • @Josceline Reardon you wouldn't be able to split into different BB calendars - I thought you were talking 1 google calendar “Planning” - ical to BB calendar “Planning” filtered users can choose to view it with all their calendars in BB or not. I do not believe you can tag a google event and then ical from those tag specific events.

  • @Josceline Reardon our Chief Academic Officer requires all teaching faculty to have their teaching calendar imported into Google Calendar as this platform is used to schedule meetings. There is a very wonky way to export the schedule from BB and then import it into Google. We started using SchoolCal about a year ago. It's pricey, but it certainly solved the problem. Good Luck!
