Merging records with event registration data

We need to work through many duplicate records resulting from large event registrations. We discovered merging into the original record can result in loss of event registration data, including a registrants seating. Any workarounds or helpful learning available on this issue?

@Christine Unruh How are you merging the records? Are you merging in database view, or in webview, or both?

@Dariel Dixon Database view. Another more experienced team member was originally working with the issue, and likely tried both. I'm now working the issue, by starting with seeking out any available information before I start merging.
