Email - Unsubscribe vs Channels & Categories

When a constituent makes an online contribution (or uses an online form) they can selects a Channel/Category to opt in/out, when they opt out, RE also markes their email address as “dnc” - when this happens you can no longer send allowed transactional emails to your constituent (which completely breaks the intent) - I have been unable to find a solution to prevent this from happening while allowing a constituent to choose whether or not they wish to receive a newsletter, or direct mail, or whatever - If you have a solution, I would love to hear it, otherwise Blackbaud needs to urgently fix this. Has anyone tried the AI acknowlegement yet - we have, won't work in this instance.

Additionally, the Unsubscribe link needs to take the constituent to a communications preference “window” which then allows them to Opt-out of communication channels without making their email “dnc” for transactional purposes.

@Marietta SDoney I agree with a lot of what you have said. NXT's email is lacking in a lot of ways. There is not a lot of flexibility in order for constituents to not get donation emails while still getting news or updates about organizations, but there also isn't any option within the system to tag an email for a specific purpose. Definitely not helpful when you need to message many constituents and all you have is email that you can't send from within the system since they chose to opt out.

Note that if you merge them, there isn't an option within webview to maintain their consent either… Lots of loopholes in how it currently functions.

When you say you have put this in the “suggested improvements”, I assume you mean the Idea Bank? If you are able to add a link to your idea(s), it will make it easier for other users to go vote!
