Anyone know how Work Center numbers are calculated?

I have tried querying our actions many times to figure out where these numbers are coming from. Why does the Actions tab say 1,211 but the list says 65,187? How are those numbers calculated?

And what makes an action show up on a fundraiser's Action tab? Sometimes actions are visible to someone even though they did not create the action and aren't assigned to the action.

Any insight?

@Steven Cariaga It is going to depend on how you have it set up with the filters, the fundraiser assigned to as well as the Action status. Depending on how you have the filter set is going to change the outcomes. The other key is filling out the Status of the Action, but unfortunately ths status in RE NXT is somewhat different from RE Database, which again is the issue of two type of RE that don't quite matchup with each other.

I understand that the number of rows depends on the filters. What's confusing is that somehow I'm viewing a list of 65,000 people on an Action tab that says 1,211. What is the 1,211 number? It's not even the sum of the actions on the Work Center Overview page. See below:

@Steven Cariaga I believe the actions are based on constituents in a portfolio. It doesn't matter if the current fundraiser added the action or is even assigned to the action. As soon as someone is assigned to a constituent as a fundraiser, they essentially inherit all of the actions on that constituent record.

I'm not 100% sure of that, but that might be something to test while you're trying to figure it out.

@Steven Cariaga I still say that you do not have the filters set up correctly, especially the action status. I do not have that issue and the below is for just one fundraiser and the status is open. I am sure a fundraiser does not inherit others actions when they take over. The actions are based on the solictor of that fundraiser who is assigned to it. Below the 57 refers to the actions that are assigned to the particular fundraiser and that the actions are open. not complete.

If I include any status, the number jumps up

  • @Joe Moretti, your picture actually does have the same “discrepancy” that @Steven Cariaga is noticing on his own dash: that is, the number beside the word “Actions” (on the dark blue tab header) is different than the number of actions listed below (the number you highlighted in yellow).

Steven, here is my best guess based on observing my own dash. The number on the tab header is the number of “Past Due” actions based on the default search filters. (Default search filter is any action that is past due on a person in your portfolio, regardless of who that action is assigned to.) You can change the filters on your list, as Joe did, and the lower number will update to reflect the new parameters, but the number beside the tab header will not change. For example, my dash looks like this in its default filters:

    b481f7006f94d92f85fb3bb4a21524da-huge-im

Meaning that there are 17 actions past due on people in my portfolio. However, when I adjust the filters to only show those actions assigned to myself, only the bottom number changes:

    57c12fc4b23c59d956eaeae94e428c80-huge-im

I could also change the status to “Open” as Joe did (ie, all non-completed tasks, whether they are past due or not) and the bottom number will change even more. But the top tab header number will always only show the number of past due actions. Does that help?
