Online Review for Gift Management: Unable to link to an organization?

We had a donor make a gift through an online donation form on behalf of an organization. Is there any way to link the transaction to the organization versus having to create a separate record?

@Sara Burtis IMO you would want a separate record for the organization if the funds are from the org. They would be the donor.
If they don't have a record the only option would be a relationship on the donor's record but that does not link the funds to the organization.

I should add that I usually do add the individual who made gift as relationship on org record and if no valid reason to keep separate individual record for the donor, I delete the individual's record.

@Sara Burtis is your donation form set up to allow gifts from Organizations? If it is a Blackbaud form - either from Online Express or from webview - that should be an option and the gift should end up on the Organization's record.

I know for sure in Online Express that an individual record will also be created and linked to the Organization for the person that filled out the form. I always recommend changing that to a non-constituent relationship, since the individual rarely needs their own record.

@Sara Burtis I love the points @JoAnn Strommen and @Karen Diener have already made. One of the great things about web view is you can change constituents for a gift. So if that gift is on the individual's record you can move it to a go-between record, change the type to organization in database view, then change the constituent of record for the gift in web view. It's a bit back and forth but that would allow you to properly have the gift under the organization instead of the individual. Plus, you'd still have the individual's information to include in the acknowledgement.

Karen is right that if your form is set up to accept Organization gifts, you'd be able to link the gift separately to the Donor and the Organization record in Online data review. If this isn't working like you'd expect or if you have other feedback about the feature, please let me know!
