Does anyone know a faster and less complex way to import data from Excel to Raiser's Edge NXT

I am trying to update the existing once as we are into data migration from one software to another so we transferred all our bulk data into excel corrected the grammar and trying to import it entirely FYI its constituents that I am referring to.

if all you doing is updating existing constituent, and that you know the constituent's ID or Import ID, then the easiest way to do this is using RE database view's import.

if you do not have constituent ID or Import ID and will need to deal with “matching” to an existing record with information (i.e. first/last name, email, address, phone, etc), then you will need an importing tool such as Import-O-matic or Importacular.

@Alex Wong @Tehzun Kachwala And, of course, if you want imports to NXT with “matching”, SmartIMPORT is another option and is NXT native. (Google us to find out more)

As Alex mentions, built-in constituent imports are the right way to go if you are doing a simple import though via RE database view.

Just want to confirm, if SmartIMPORT is doing importing, or individually updating each record using PATCH constituent (or gift) API?

Hi

SmartIMPORT uses the NXT APIs directly (it is not a plugin to the older RE database view) and does all the sensible things, such as creating or updating a record depending on whether it exists (through multiple checks for a match) or not. So, PATCH and POST are both used as needed. I hope that answers the question. I can give you a more techie version if needed, but just PM me for that.

@Tehzun Kachwala I import Excel files through RE. See knowledgebase KB 38639 Once the data is in RE it'll be in NXT too.
