Creating a new fund ID number

Hi! I will create a new fund in RE and I am doing that in database view. It asks me the fund ID number. How and where do I create the ID number?

@Nice Garcia Welcome to the BB Community forums.

You will create a 4-digit number OR your finance team. If you are integrated with FE it may be your finance staff's job to create. The 4-digit fund # is linked to a 5-digit project number.
    Check with finance team first.

If it's truly up to you, do you have some kind of coding? All of type A funds start with these digits - all type B funds start with these digits, etc. If you are an existing RE user there may be a pattern to follow.

Fund ID in database view is a unique user defined identifier for the fund, it can be up to 20 characters (not just numbers). If your RE is integrated with FE (Financial Edge), Fund is the “driving” force for how gift in RE is posted in FE, so it is very important that you conform to rules that has been set in place by your finance team.

Even if you are not integrated with FE, you org is posting gifts into some accounting system, so you want to make sure to check in with finance too.

Unless you are brand new to RE and is in process of defining how you are going to use RE, you should do as JoAnn mentioned, check previous fund created to see if there are any particular pattern that your org is already doing things in. Do not arbitrarily make your own rule.

@Nice Garcia The ‘where’ is on Records > Funds - where you enter the info on the new fund.
