Exporting & Importing Grade Comments with HTML formatting

For report card comments, one of our principals would rather not use Review Grades, which requires them to review one class/grade plan at a time, open & edit the text box for every comment in that class/grade plan, etc. They asked if I can get all comments in one file, and they'd edit it there, then pass it back to me to import back.

As far as I can tell, this can be done with an Advanced List to export comments and a Data Import (Student > Recorded Grades-Comment) to update them (first scrubbing them as per the KB here). I've created the list and exported the data.

Issue: we're mostly using the HTML editor, so many comments have HTML formatting. The exported CSV understandably doesn't retain this, instead including HTML coding in the text. Ex. “Great job!” becomes “<b>Great job!</b>”.

I've reached out to support, but I strongly suspect the code will be treated as plaintext in a Data Import, so you'd get “<b>Great job!</b>” as a comment.

Is there any way to retain the formatting when doing the data import?
