Viewing Relationships FROM a relationship record
Hi all!
I have been building out our database connectivity and individual records, and jumping back and forth between DB view and web view to see how the information shows up. Recently I added a number of affiliated schools, employers, and other non-profit organizations to constituents who have been engaged with them, so we can see where some of our donors overlap.
However, I noticed that while I can bring up relationship records for those non-constituent businesses and organizations in web view (through the handy “search relationship records” function), there's no drop-down menu to observe relationships on those records. Is this a feature I'm missing somehow, or did BB overlook having relationships show for non-constituent records created entirely for the purposes of being relationships to constituents?
This is especially frustrating as I haven't found a way to search non-constituents in the database view. If there's a way, please let me know!

@Robin Kuehn There isn't a way to search non-constituents in DBV. That is pretty strictly a NXT function. TBH, non-constituent records used to only be viewed from the constituent record only, and until NXT wasn't really able to store much. Now that you can add the same non-constituent record to other constituent relationships, the visibility of this shortcoming is growing. I would like to see more filters or columns in the search, but there aren't any options currently.
It's definitely worth searching and seeing if there is an idea in the idea bank for it.

@Robin Kuehn
not understanding what you mean by “to observe relationships on those records” but onto your questionYes, there is a way to search non constituent in dbview, but it isn't as striaghtforward.
non constituent can be relationship, event guest, etc. So meaning, you can search using a query specifically targetting the relationship's first name, last name, for example.

@Robin Kuehn welcome to Community! Here are my thoughts.
First, if you have an organization that has multiple people affiliated with it, I recommend making it a constituent record to more easily track it (was not clear if this is what you are doing or not). If you know you have 10 people working for ABC Company, then ABC Company needs its own record so you can see that. Otherwise, adding 10 relationship records for that company on each of the constituent's records makes it more difficult to see connections. RE does have a plug-in called Nonconstituent Merge Utility that is really helpful for this; I used it at my last org to manage a ton of duplicate relationship records.
Second, no, if you have a relationship record that is linked to a constituent you cannot see any of those relationships on the relationship record. With the added ability to link non-constituent records to multiple constituents it would definitely be beneficial to view those relationships from said relationship record. Currently, though, only the constituent record in web view has the Relationship tile visible.
Third, as Alex said, you can query on relationship records in DB view but it can be tricky. I had a query to do just this at my old org. I think what I did was filter Organization Name contains whatever and was able to pull the constituents that had a relationship record with that criteria. It was a bit of trial and error for me to determine which fields I needed to pull into the results and which to filter. I would pick a couple of records that meet criteria you're looking for and build a query to pull that (e.g. you know Sally Smith has ABC Company listed as her employer and ABC is a relationship record. Build a constituent query to look for organization names that contain ABC (I used the <ask> filter so I could specify at runtime what I was needing) and have your results include the constituent ID and name. In the query results in DB view you can just double-click the results and it will take you to the constituent record).
Hope this helps!

@Robin Kuehn Non-constituent spouses are searchable in the database view using the standard search functionality. Otherwise, you would need to use Query as mentioned or search in webview.
